Copenhagen

Copenhagen is the capital and largest city of Denmark, located mainly on the island of Zealand, with a smaller part on the island of Amager. The city sits along the Øresund Strait and is connected to Malmö, Sweden, by the Øresund Bridge, forming part of the greater Øresund Region.

Originally established as a Viking fishing village in the 10th century, Copenhagen became the capital of Denmark in the early 15th century. Over the centuries, it developed into the political, cultural, and economic heart of the country and a regional centre of power in Scandinavia.

Today, Copenhagen is one of Northern Europe’s key financial and commercial hubs, with a strong service-based economy driven by finance, technology, pharmaceuticals, and clean energy. The city is internationally recognised for its high quality of life, sustainable urban planning, and extensive cycling infrastructure.

Copenhagen offers a rich mix of historic landmarks and modern attractions, including Tivoli Gardens, The Little Mermaid statue, Amalienborg and Christiansborg palaces, Rosenborg Castle, and vibrant waterfront districts. With its museums, dining scene, and green public spaces, Copenhagen is a major cultural and tourist destination in Scandinavia.
