Designed specifically to glide in luxury through the shallow seas of the South Pacific, The Gauguin is a small-ship cruiser’s dream. She delivers travelers to intimate ports inaccessible to larger cruise ships, all the while providing a travel experience that is nothing short of luxurious. Once on board, guests enjoy newly-decorated spacious suites and staterooms (more than 70% with private balconies), an onboard watersports marina, three dining venues, an extensive spa, and five-star service. Life on The Gauguin also reflects the beauty and rich cultural heritage of the islands she calls upon, with a warm, friendly feel, informal setting, and even a beloved troupe of Les Gauguin and Les Gauguines—local Tahitians who serve as onboard hosts and hostesses, entertainers, and storytellers.

Watersports
The custom built watersports marina offers easy access to complimentary kayaking and paddleboarding, and Zodiacs® for optional dive excursions.
Motu Mahana
Just offshore lies Motu Mahana, Paul Gauguin Cruises’ private South Seas island, where you’ll spend a day (or maybe two, depending on your itinerary) doing exactly as you please.
There’s no end to the indulgences of this private island paradise. Go for a swim in the warm waters. Snorkel with colorful tropical fish among the green and purple blooms of coral. Or paddle out farther in one of the kayaks that have been brought to shore from The Gauguin’s watersports marina.
Ashore, you might engage in a game of volleyball or watch as your hosts, Les Gauguines and Les Gauguins, demonstrate how to open a coconut or tie a pareo. Perhaps you’ll treat yourself to an overwater massage. And when the time comes for refreshments, delight in a sumptuous barbecue feast—complete with cocktails from the floating bar.
Bora Bora – Private Beach
You can spend as much time as you'd like during the day on Paul Gauguin Cruises’private beach in Bora Bora. The specialists from the watersports marina will be on hand to help you enjoy kayaking or paddleboarding from the beach, or don the equipment you packed and enjoy exceptional snorkeling to view tropical fish and manta rays in the azure lagoon.
Or you might simply stay on the warm white sands of the beach, sunbathing or engaging in a game of volleyball. But this Bora Bora island retreat especially speaks to those seeking that quintessential remote Tahitian beach with few signs of the outside world. A place to daydream, nap, read, or just be. A fair amount of time should be spent just marveling at the postcard-perfect views of Mount Otemanu towering over the main island in this exclusive Bora Bora getaway.
Optional Shore Excursions
Choose from a range of optional shore excursions in each port.
Fitness Centre
A fully equipped fitness centre is available for guest use.
Swimming Pool

Clothing which is informal, comfortable and easily washable is most practical aboard the ship. In addition to shorts, jeans or trousers, T-shirts and a bathing suit, a rain poncho or coat and warm sweatshirt or light sweater for chilly evenings are recommended. Comfortable shoes are essential for walking ashore over coral reefs. Tennis shoes or sandals are recommended. For women, the native pareo, made of colourful fabric, which can be wrapped in a variety of styles, is a versatile choice for both casual and festive occasions and can be purchased onboard or during port visits.

Aranui Cruises began solely as a freighter service, adding passenger accommodation in 1984 with Aranui I. As demand for more passenger berths increased, the ships have been replaced and now the Aranui 5 combines the freighter requirements with comfortable passenger accommodations, restaurant, bars, swimming pool and more. Passengers are able to experience the magic of cruising Tahiti’s spectacular isles whilst seeing the freighter in action.
Shore excursions are included throughout the cruise, should you wish to participate. The Marquesas Islands are so remote that you won’t be overrun with other tourists. Instead, the ship is eagerly awaited by the locals who will greet you and welcome you ashore. The children are likely to take your hand and the women will delight in showing you their crafts. Learn about the ancient traditions of tattooing, the history of famous writers and artists who called the Marquesas home, or enjoy the guided walks to see the spectacular scenery and sights. You may wish to do some or all of the activities on offer, or simply sit back and watch the crew in action. However you decide to enjoy the Marquesas, this is one trip that will stand out from the rest.
